How to find us

Kilmaneen is very centrally situated in the south of Ireland.  We are just a little over 1 hour from Cork airport and ferry port, 1.5 hours from Shannon airport and 2.5 hours from the port of Rosslare.  Dublin airport is 3 hours.
As we are in such a rural location most guests would travel to us by car   However, we are easily accessible by public transport.  Buses are a safe and efficient form of public transport in Ireland and they are very popular.  The 007 bus route from Cork or Kilkenny comes to Ardfinnan which is just 3 miles/5 km from Kilmaneen and we would be happy to pick you up from there by prior arranagement.  Alternatively, buses from Dublin, Limerick and Cork pass through Cahir or Clonmel many times each day.  A taxi to Kilmaneen would be necessary to complete these journeys.  Please check
www.buseireann.ie for details and timetables.

Rail transport to Kilmaneen is more complicated. The nearest train stations are in Clonmel and Cahir.
Details can be found on
www.irishrail.ie

Directions by car

Kilmaneen Farmhouse is off the beaten track so here we give you details on how to find us.  Please print off these directions and keep them with your travel documents. If you are lost please stop at a Service Station and ask for directions - they are usually very willing to help.
Tip:- Ask for directions to villages rather than road numbers as locals are not really familiar with the road numbers!
If you are using GPS our co-ordinates are N-52-28419 and W-007-84565

Go n-éirí an bóthar leat (gaelic for Bon Voyage)!

From Dublin.
There are two choices, (a) via Cahir or (b) via Kilkenny

(a) Via Cahir (pronounced Care).
Take N8 to Cahir.
In the centre of the town of Cahir there is a hotel called Cahir House Hotel.  At the corner of the hotel follow the sign to the village of Ardfinnan (R670).
As you drive down into the village of Ardfinnan take a right which will bring you through the village.
At the western side of the village you will see the Hill Bar (a pub) on the left.  Take a left up the steep hill.  (Kilmaneen Farmhouse is signposted from the Hill Bar).
Drive out of the village into the countryside and you will come to a T junction where you take a left, following the Kilmaneen Farmhouse signpost.
Drive for about 1 mile/1 1/2 km and you will come to a crossroads where you take a left, again following the Kilmaneen Farmhouse signpost.
Drive for 1ml/1 1/2km and Kilmaneen Farmhouse is on the left.

(b) Via Kilkenny.
Take the N7 to Naas.
Take the N9 to Carlow.
Take the N10 to Kilkenny.
Take the N76 to Clonmel.
In Clonmel (see map), at the first set of traffic lights that you meet, take a left.  Drive across the bridge and up to the small roundabout where you take a right.
Follow this road to the next small roundabout where you drive straight onto the Ardfinnan road (R665).
Take the R665 to the village of Ardfinnan and drive through the village to the Hill Bar.
(Do not be tempted to follow any signs to Newcastle as you will add considerably to your journey!).

Click on this picture for a large map of Clonmel town.  It is difficult to find the road to Ardfinnan (R665) so follow the red line if approaching from Waterford or Kilkenny.  This way you can by-pass the town and avoid a complicated one way system around Clonmel.

From Cork
Take the N8 to Mitchelstown.  There is a toll charge on this new motorway.  On 1/1/08 the charge is €1.70.
In Mitchelstown take the R665 through Ballyporeen, Clogheen and into Ardfinnan
As you approach the village of Ardfinnan the Hill Bar is on your right.  Turn sharp right and drive up the steep hill.  (Kilmaneen Farmhouse is signposted from the Hill Bar).
